We look after a number of cold-water storage tanks and cold-water booster sets. In this building we were called out to a water leak that was coming from the ceiling. After further investigation we found the cold-water storage tank has deteriorated and was leaking from the bottom of the tank
The Customer options and choices
Going forward there were a few options to complete the repairs. However, after a few meetings the client wanted to re-do the pipework on the tank as well as making the tank room watertight and to do this it would require the tank to be disassembled. At this point due to the age of the existing tank we recommended the tank be replaced and updated with new pipework.
Removal of the existing tank
We had to complete a series of pipework modifications to convert the tank outlet to mains cold water to keep water services operational. We then drained the tank and unbolted each panel and disposed of the tank.
The pipework was removed and ready for replacement.
Tank Room Update
Completely bonded and painted the tank room floor for complete watertight seal. Support beams painted. Left to cure for 24 hours.
The Build
This was a 17th floor tower block all cold-water tank panel had to be taken up separately and built on site.
Each panel is bolted and bonded together. Incoming, outlets and drains were all renewed.
The Results
After filling the tanks and doing a 24-hour watertight test we then did a complete disinfection and clean. We completed the full installation within 7 days. The client was very grateful for. The tanks were put online, and platinum complete all the maintenance and cleans.
